New York is not Paris. We know this instinctively, yet it's easy to forget inside the walls of Ceci-Cela.

The Nolita patisserie has been a staple in our books ever since we moved to New York, hot off a stint in Paris. Years later, it remains the only place in Manhattan where we'll buy chocolate eclairs.

While it's a great pit-stop for sandwiches and coffee, we love just going for a pastry run. You really can't go wrong with anything you pick up here. The pastries are all made in traditional parisien style—everything is flaky, buttery goodness.

If you're ever looking to turn a boring day into a party, buy one of the famous croquembouche. There is absolutely no way you can be in a bad mood when face-to-face with a decadent mountain of sugary dough balls.
